Icarus's projects

[Also going by I. C. Aruss when writing, by the way.]This is... Exactly what it says on the tin. You are in transit between my social media profiles, most likely, but take a seat! I'll walk you through information about the stories I'm making! Above, you can find most of my socials (that I use), and below, you can peek into the things I'm a part of or working on actively! This carrd is to be updated once the media itself becomes available.Don't repost my art on any platform. THE DARK CREATURES OF RAVENHILLOVERVIEW
Abbreviated as TDCOR for simplicity's sake and coined by my friend Kay in 2022, a small town gothic trilogy starting with the first book of the same name that I'm writing with my friends & cowriters, Kay and Levi (therefore, everyone gets credit for it and it should be mentioned that it's not only my project). The story centers around the eponymous town of Ravenhill, Oregon, and its inhabitants.
The narrative is presented through the eyes of five (or six, but that's a secret) main characters, interwoven with the points of view of a couple reoccurring faces. It explores themes of class, identity (of all kinds), family, individual relationship with religion, rural areas and just as secluded generational secrets, all with a whiff of eldritch horror genre elements on top.Despite its grimdark sensibilities, TDCOR is strangely sadornic and campy, tongue-in-cheek in places, while still maintaining a serious tone throughout. We hope.

CHARACTERSShort blurbs about each of the protagonists

Tristan Hargreaves, whose parents died in a freak accident and who has to grapple with his true nature that is revealed to him upon arriving in town, has one hell of a problem with the dead.

Adam "Zero" Lewis-Hō is the angry illegitimate son of an unassuming, although heavily disfunctional, picketfence household and he is being haunted by his mother's ghost, alongside being all too willing to pry into all the things this town is so keen on hiding.

Matthew Dove is plagued by grief following the death of his best friend two autumns prior and his plan is simple — bring Jayce back at all costs, no matter how much of Ravenhill he has to unravel in order to do it.

Naiada Blakely lives in a cottage in the woods and took refuge in Ravenhill after she ran away from home. They'd much rather have her dead than have a daughter, after all, and she's not going to back down from living her life no matter how many shady deals and shadier things lurking in between trees it takes her.

Dakota Ravenwood, whose heritage is worth her weight in gold to the spirits prowling these streets, might be just what her ancestors sought to destroy. This does not look good compared to her to-do list of getting out of this godforsaken town as soon as possible, and leaving all it's done to her behind.

Kersei McAllen (from book 2 onwards, that's all I'll say) has had his life stolen from him from the very beginning, and now has to grapple with realizations about himself that he would much rather not think about — from belief, to his deepest needs, to the fact that his very body has been transformed into what is, essentially, an organic ticking bomb

TO THE WATERS AND THE WILDOVERVIEW"To the Waters and the Wild" is a trilogy whose events take place over a span of circa 30 years. Highly focused on the growth and emotional journey of its characters, it is placed into the bildungsroman category, but with a paranormal and cosmic horror twist, because of course, we would not have it any other way.The first volume, currently under the grueling process of being written, is centered on two brothers' teenage years in Wakefield Hollow, an eerie, remote little town in the heart of the Appalachian mountains. As they grow and change, both from a physical and psychological standpoint, individually and as twins, they interact with a motley company of main and secondary characters who may or may not belong to the supernatural side of the world. Hint: vampires, and not only.Abounding in Biblical symbolism, literary references, exploration of the occult, multiverse discourse, and social critique, "To the Waters and the Wild" fancies itself an erudite project, most probably bordering on pretentious at times, although hopefully, some level of self-awareness keeps it safe from crossing the line toward reader aggravation. Anyway, blame Levi's Comparative Literature major for this.- my friend, Levi, because I didn't trust myself to write an all encompassing blurb since this one hasn't festered for 3 years like TDCOR has

Conrad Jansen has been mysteriously resurrected as a child, and ever since, he has been attuned to what lies beyond the veil. His entire world view is put to the test by these occurrences, and what's worst is yet to come.

Quinn Jansen — whose name has always definitely been Quinn Jansen — seeks out to chase his own future, separate from his twin brother Conrad's (shocking, I know) woes. However, paranormal activity runs in the family, and Quinn can't escape it no matter how much he puts himself front and center in worldly affairs.

Bridgette Duncan, Saint Undying! She never asked for any of this, however. Yet, she has an image to uphold and a very angry, very powerful, very undead ex on her trail. At least trying to be a kind, fair ruler makes up for it, doesn't it?

Constantine thought his life after life would be much more relaxing than, say, the French Revolution, and he's even secured an important position in vampire hierarchy! However, all this starts going steadily downhill the moment he is forced to get involved in all this world-ending-stakes business.

Antionus "Anton" Pîrvu is tired of being a bystander as the world goes up in flames. Following their turning into a vampire, they get much more than they bargained for via the dark underworld of vampire politics. This, and their desire for justice, is set to blow up any time now.

Chul has had his entire life turned upside down following the ending of semi-sucessful band EKTØPLAZMYC. Instead of causing some sort of scene, like his former band mates, Chul decides to go back to his roots. Too bad that his family harbors secrets of its own, and he may or may not have to take up a harrowing burden bordering on life and death!
